Is that the fat lady I hear?

Friday, July 30th, 2010

It seems to me that American Idol may be on it’s last leg. This season there will be no Simon, no Paula, no Kara, no Ellen and no Ricky. (Ricky Minor the music director is also leaving the show.) So that leaves us with Randy (come on dog) and Ryan.

Hmmm…. this does not bode well for the future of Idol. Even if you didn’t care for Simon or Paula personally, they did add entertainment value. I liked Kara fine and from what I saw of Ellen, she seemed to be the voice of the people. I did NOT think they were amazing but they were fine.

Rumors are rampant all of the web about the new judges. The latest I have seen is Randy (who is still under contract), Steven Tyler and JLO. I don’t doubt the qualifications of most of the people I have seen rumored to fill spots and these three are (again) fine BUT it seems that when things start to change this much people get antsy. The public doesn’t seem to care much for change.

I wouldn’t be shocked if AI didn’t weather this storm very well.

Simon & Ellen, Sitting in a Tree..

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Those of you who watch American Idol may have noticed the judges changed their seating around a bit last night, with Ellen DeGeneres moving to sit beside Randy Jackson instead of next to Simon Cowell.

When asked about the move, Ellen admitted that Simon gets a bit handsy with her.

It sounds like there’s only fun happening on that side of the table, as Perez Hilton reported this morning that Chris Golightly, who was unceremoniously booted from the earlier rounds due to an existing recording contract, is now showing documents that released him from that contract prior to his AI audition date.

Of course, not long after, the CEO of that recording company accused Golightly of forging the documents himself after the CEO refused to.

Who knew that this season was so fraught with drama?  This is almost as good as Real Housewives of American Idol.

Everybody Hurts. (Sometimes.)

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

You didn’t hear it here first, probably, but I just heard it today and I’m all about sharing the love.

Simon Cowell, of I-guess-we-can-still-say-American-Idol fame, has pulled his executive producer strings to make the puppets of the music world dance for a remake of the R.E.M. classic, Everybody Hurts.
