Everyone has a favorite holiday. Some people love Christmas, some people get super jazzed about Halloween, some people think 4th of July is the bee’s knees.
I LOVE GROUNDHOG DAY! One of my goals in life is to be in Punxsutawney on Feb. 2!
Let’s discuss the wonders of the day, shall we?
First, Gobblers’s Knob. (I think that speaks for itself.)
Second, people get all dressed up. Heck yeah! A man in a TOP HAT and tux with tails is always a plus to any holiday. In fact, I think Santa should look into a red top hat. He would look hella fab!
Third, the man in the top hat reaches into a hole and pulls out a GROUNDHOG! I love a little controversy with my holiday…so it always makes me happy that PETA hates Groundhog’s Day. They get all up in arms and assy about disturbing the hibernation of the animal. HOWEVER…they don’t seem to mind when my children wake my ass up at 6am. Hypocrites. (Moms are animal too!)
And then of course there is the movie….
Groundhog Day – a tradition at my house every Feb. 2 ! LOVE IT!
Ned: Ned… Ryerson. “Needlenose Ned”? “Ned the Head”? C’mon, buddy. Case Western High. Ned Ryerson: I did the whistling belly-button trick at the high school talent show? Bing! Ned Ryerson: got the shingles real bad senior year, almost didn’t graduate? Bing, again. Ned Ryerson: I dated your sister Mary Pat a couple times until you told me not to anymore? Well?
Phil: Ned Ryerson?
Ned: Bing!
Phil: Bing.
Punxsutawney Phil is probably the most famous of the American prognosticators…but there are several other American and Canadian groundhogs known for making predictions.
Here are the results for 2010…

When I was younger I LOVED that movie. Why? Because it’s Feb 2nd in the movie. Always Feb 2nd. And Bill Murray wanted it to be the next day. The next day happens to be Feb 3rd…MY BIRTHDAY. So I thought that Bill Murray wanted it to be the next day so badly because he wanted it to be my birthday.
I was a selfish little kid.

I don’t live that far away from Punxsutawney. People in Altoona, get just as excited about it. Schools usually have bunch of groundhog day crafts plan.
This is, very seriously, Bryan’s FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. He quotes it all the time and I have no IDEA what in the hell he’s talking about.
Also, Bill Murray? SEX ADDICT. Yes, you’re welcome for that.

Well I was going to comment just about the groundhog thing but than Sarah traumatized me with the mental image of Bill Murray as a sex addict…ewwww.
Should you ladies want to go yank your very own groundhog out of a hole-you can go to my parents’ house. A HUGE one lives in their backyard, but he’s not famous. Maybe he could be a guest with you on tonight’s episode? I’m sure Gellman would love it.
Pictures of groundhogs driving cars cracks me up.
